Search tips and guides for educational research

When searching for literature for a smaller essay, an article for a scientific journal or perhaps literature for your final report for the course UDTU - Education in University Teaching at DTU - you have several options.

DTU Library website

On the DTU library website you get access to lots of different sources. These cover all aspects of DTU research, but with a focus on science and technology.  On the website you will find all the information you need for your research, options for ordering material, options for suggesting books not available in stock, as well as contact information for the various services provided by the library.

Databases
The most important sources for literature on teaching and learning are found in:

The Library provides access to several electronic resources – incl. full text articles from publishers like Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley – all integrated with metadata and full text from DTU FINDit and other databases mentioned.

Book a librarian
You can book a session with a librarian through the DTU Library website.

This will give you a personal session with a professional librarian who can help you with most of your information needs, from getting started with basic information retrieval, to specific searches on your topic.

Search tips…
A good way to prepare the information search is to think about the topic and keywords that match your task.

  • You can fill out this formbefore a booked meeting with your librarian or supervisor – it is a good way to collect keywords, synonyms and alternative spellings as well as planning your research.
  • Tips on how to combine the keywords and how to use most of the systems can be found in this short search technique.

Reference management
There are several systems for handling references. In such a system you can collect and save references including full text from many research databases. This makes it easier for you to structure and re-use the references in writing and citing afterwards. 

DTU Library provides support for Mendeley. On the library website you can read more about this software.
