Summer School: Together 2 rethink student participation

DTU Learning Lab’s Summer School: Together 2 rethink student participation

Residential stay at Rungstedgaard | June 29th – July 1st, 2026

What does meaningful student participation look like at a university like DTU? How is it shaped by our teaching practices, our learning environments, and the communities’ students join? How can we, as educators, create the conditions that make participation possible, inviting, and worthwhile?

Over three immersive days, this year’s DTU Learning Lab summer school offers a dedicated space to explore student participation. Together with experienced colleagues from across DTU, we will investigate how student participation is expressed in our contexts and how we can support students’ engagement in teaching, learning activities, and university life.

Why Join?

Former participants of the summer school consistently describe the residential format and the intense working with new colleagues as both unique and energizing:

“Really great: it is not often that I have the opportunity to remove myself from the daily work and just concentrate on one specific topic and deep dive into it without being distracted all the time.”

“It has been really nice talking to new colleagues from other parts of DTU.”

This summer, we once again invite experienced educators to explore the theme of student participation through discussions, reflection, and creative collaboration on questions like:

  • How can we understand student participation?
  • What encourages, or discourages, students from participating?
  • In what ways do our own practices support or hinder student participation?

Come join us!
