How to teach and test in the light of AI

Generative AI is reshaping research, industry, and education. What will the future of engineering look like in this new landscape? This course is designed to help departments and educators begin the conversation on how to teach and assess effectively in the age of AI.

The course is department-driven and facilitates internal discussions on how teach and test in the light of AI. We will provide your department with a specific course upon request from the head of department or head of studies.

Learning objectives:
The aim of the course is to support teachers developing teaching and exam forms that create opportunities for students to use Generative AI critically and creatively, the course gives the teachers the opportunity to reflect on how to:

  • Teach and design exams that test students conceptual understanding.
  • Teach creative use of AI in research within the field.
  • Design exams that embrace the use of all AI, compliant to rules and legislation.

The course consists of three parts:

  1. Asynchronous and individual
This part focuses on conceptual understanding. The idea is for the participants to go through the material at their own pace before you all meet for part 2.
  2. Department seminar
This second part of the course is a collaborative and creative meeting where you share ideas and develop together. Someone from your department will be facilitating this process (there are step by step instructions).
  3. Asynchronous and individual - with peer-feedback
The third part of the course focuses on exam rules and guidelines..
